In the dead of winter of 1952 Louie Kunz and Max Stuteville purchased Davis Furniture from Roy Davis, who had purchased the store from Larry Dallam. It was cold with not many customers and few sales.

They survived and operated for the next 27 years.

In 1979 Bill and Roger Bumps purchased the store. Both had lived in Wenatchee most of their lives. Bill had “retired” from a successful printing and office interior business. Roger had graduated from college and just returned from travelling in Europe. It was then that many changes began to happen.

The inventory was sold off, new inventory purchased and the store remodeled. The displays were changed from a bowling alley lineup to complete room settings.

Growth began to happen and along with it expansion. With the purchase of the adjacent buildings the display area was increased from 10,000 to over 30,000 square feet.

The total staff grew from the original four to twenty five.

Bill retired in 1989 and Roger continued to run and grow the business. His daughter, Sarah, joined them in 2007 after completing her interior design degree and working in Seattle. In 2017 Roger Bumps retired after 39 years working in the home furnishings industry and Sarah took over the family business.
